JAKARTA, March 15 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia would send missions in Malaysia's upcoming travel fair held in three cities, aimed at tapping up to 1.4 million tourists from the neighboring country this year, an official at Indonesia Tourism Ministry said here on Thursday.

The Malaysian travel fair, Malaysia Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Fair, will be held from March 16 to April 1 in Malaysia's three cities of Kuala Lumpur, Perak and Penang.

Malaysia is among top five foreign tourist contributors to Indonesia in the last several years.

"The 2018 MATTA Fair is a very potential momentum to attract more tourist from Malaysia, coping with our targets this year," Deputy Tourism Minister for International Marketing at the ministry I Gde Pitana said.

Pitana said Indonesian mission would focus on promotion and tour package sales in Bali, followed with other destinations of Borobudur Temple, Lake Toba and Lombok's Mandalika.

Indonesian exhibit in 2018 MATTA Fair would take a design of Phinisi traditional boat, to showcase various traditional and cultural attractions.

Indonesia Tourism Minister Arief Yahya hailed Indonesia's participation in the Malaysian travel fair event, expecting it would contribute to the nation's target to welcome 17 million foreign tourists this year.
