KATHMANDU, April 9 (Xinhua) -- A Canadian humanitarian worker has been arrested in Nepal on the charge of his involvement in pedophile, police said.

The Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police arrested Canadian national Peter Dalglish on the charge of his involvement in pedophile from Kavre District, some 50 km north from Kathmandu.

"We have started investigation against the Canadian national taking him into custody," Pushkar Karki, chief of the Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police, told media on Sunday.

The initial police investigation has shown that the 60-year-old Peter had been tempting kids by offering foreign trips and better education before sexually abusing them, another top police official said.

The police have rescued two kids of 12 and 14 years sexually abused by Dalglish.

Dalglish has been running an NGO called Himalayan Community Foundation in Nepal since 2015 in the name of working for poor and deprived communities.

Before coming to Nepal, Dalgish had worked for different UN agencies in different capacities, including the UN-Habitat country representative for Afghanistan.

This is not the first case of pedophilia to hit the Himalayan country as many foreigners have been arrested in recent years for sexually abusing and molesting under-aged children, police said.
