WARSAW, May 6 (Xinhua) -- Two miners found by rescuers in the underground excavation of Zofiowka mine in southern Poland, were confirmed dead upon being transported to the surface on Sunday.

Rescuers are still looking for the other three missing people. The two dead were found crushed in the excavation.

Seven miners went missing on Saturday after a tremor struck the mine at 11:00 a.m. local time, 900 meters under the ground, in Jastrzebie-Zdroj, south Poland.

Two of the missing miners were brought to the surface on Saturday. They were injured but conscious, and are currently hospitalized.

Polish President Andrzej Duda has arrived at the site.

Over 200 people are involved in the rescue operation. Daniel Ozon, president of the Jastrzebska Spolka Weglowa S.A. company, who runs the mine, said that the representatives of the company were in constant contact with the families of the miners, who have been provided with psychological help.
