Stuttgart sack head coach Hannes Wolf

BERLIN, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) -- Stuttgart have parted company with head coach Hannes Wolf with immediate effect, the struggling Bundesliga club announced in an official statement on Sunday.

The 36-year-old coach has been relieved from all of his duties after newly promoted Stuttgart suffered their second loss in a row to remain in striking distance of the drop zone.

"After yesterday's game we had a very intensive conversation with Hannes and analysed the situation. We are convinced that we need a new impetus to get back on track. We all did not want this situation and would have liked to continue working with Hannes," Stuttgart's sporting director Michael Reschke said.

"In the previous weeks the results were not good enough unfortunately. That is why we mutually decided to end our journey. I wish Stuttgart, the staff and the fans all the best," Hannes Wolf told the club's official homepage.

According to the club's statement, Stuttgart will decide in the next few days who will be Wolf's successor.

Stuttgart sit currently on the 14th place of the standings. They will meet Wolfsburg in the 20th round of Bundesliga action on Saturday.
