LOS ANGELES, Feb. 17 (Xinhua) -- The Brooklyn Nets point guard Spencer Dinwiddie won the Skill Challenge of 2018 NBA All-Star at Staples Center Saturday night.

The 24-year-old was probably the least well-known participant in the competition that crowded by All-Stars including the Portland Trail Blazers Joel Embiid, the Detroit Pistons Andre Drummond and the Boston Celtics Al Horford, borderline All-Star Lou Williams of Los Angeles Clippers.

Dinwiddie, who grew in Los Angeles, outlasted a famous young player the Chicago Bulls forward Lauri Markkanena to win the challenge in his hometown.

"It all really feels and seems full circle because I got to come home and do it in front of my family," Dinwiddie said after the victory, adding that he keens on winning every single basketball game that he can.

Dinwiddie, who averaged 13.6 points and 6.7 assists this season, also thanked the Brooklyn Nets since the team pressed him into full-time point guard duty following the injuries to Jeremy Lin and D'Angelo Russell early in the season.

"It's big for me to even be at All-Star Weekend considering the road that's been in my career, very up and down. Obviously being in the G League both on assignment and as a G League player, thank you to the Brooklyn Nets for giving me this opportunity to play and be here," he said.
