BEIRUT, March 12 (Xinhua) -- Newly appointed Saudi ambassador to Lebanon Walid al-Yaacoub has been summoned to Saudi Arabia to assume other posts three months after his appointment in Lebanon, the National News Agency (NNA) reported Monday.

Meanwhile, the NNA said ambassador Walid al-Bukhari has been appointed as the Saudi charge d'affaires in Lebanon, until a new ambassador is accredited.

Al-Bukhari's appointment at this time highlights the kingdom's keenness on continuing to develop relations with Lebanon and to preserve Lebanon's stability and security, the NNA added.

Meanwhile, Lebanese Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil asked al-Bukhari, who met him as soon as he arrived in Beirut, to urge Saudi Arabia's leadership to lift the travel ban prohibiting Saudis from visiting Lebanon.

Al-Bukhari has previously served as charge d'affaires in Lebanon prior to al-Yaacoub's appointment.
