JERUSALEM, April 5 (Xinhua) -- An Israeli fighter jet targeted an armed Palestinian adjacent to the security fence in northern Gaza overnight Wednesday, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said Thursday.
"The IDF will not allow any harm to the security of Israeli civilians, and will continue to operate against terrorists who are involved in acts of terror," the IDF said in a statement issued on Thursday morning.
On Thursday afternoon, the IDF released a video tracking the movement of the armed Palestinian before he was neutralized by IDF troops.
According to the Palestinian forces, the Palestinian militant was carrying grenades and an explosive device.
Almost four hours after the IDF announcement, Palestinian rescue services said a body was removed from the scene of the attack east of the Zeitoun neighborhood.
