Romania's Potaissa Turda wins European Challenge Cup in men's handball

ATHENS, May 20 (Xinhua) -- Potaissa Turda of Romania raised the European Challenge Cup after beating Greek handball team AEK over two legs on Sunday.

Despite AEK beating the Romanians 27-26 in the final match, Turda won out 33-22 in the first leg of their tie, giving them a superior goal difference.

At the OAKA basketball court in front of 4,000 spectators in Athens on Sunday, Potaissa took the lead in the first half before AEK struck back and managed to draw the scores level in the second half. The score was 23-all five minutes before the end.

The Greek team finally won the game (27-26) with Christos Nicolaides scoring at the last second. The top scorer for AEK was Julios Argyrou with seven goals and for Potaissa it was Alexandru Asoltanei who hit the back of the net five times.
