PYONGYANG, June 1 (Xinhua) -- Kim Jong Un, top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), has said the DPRK's will for denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula is unchanged, consistent and fixed, Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on Friday.

Kim aired the view on Thursday when meeting with visiting Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

Kim also said he hoped that the DPRK-U.S. relations and the issue of denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula will be solved on a stage-by-stage basis by finding a solution to meet the interests of each other through a new method in a new era and under a new situation.

"The solution of the issues will progress through effective and constructive dialogue and negotiation," he was quoted as saying.

Lavrov conveyed a personal letter from Russian President Vladimir Putin during the meeting, said KCNA.

"Exchanged at the conversation were the opinions and views of the top leaderships of the DPRK and Russia on the trend of the situation and prospect of the Korean Peninsula and the region, the recent world focus," said the report.

They also discussed further development of bilateral relations as well as closer political and economic cooperation, it said.

Lavrov praised Pyongyang's efforts in stabilizing the inter-Korean and DPRK-U.S. relations as well as the situation on the Peninsula and in the region.

The Russian foreign minister said Moscow fully supports the DPRK's determination and stand on the DPRK-U.S. leaders' meeting which is high on the agenda as well as the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, according to the report.
