NEW DELHI, June 25 (Xinhua) -- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held talks with visiting Seychelles President Danny Faure in the national capital Monday.

"PM@narendramodi received the President of Seychelles Danny Antoine Rollen Faure for bilateral talks. Special ties with a maritime neighbor," External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar tweeted.

Earlier in the day, Faure was accorded a ceremonial welcome at the Rashtrapati Bhavan (Indian President's official residence) and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj also called on him.

"Good discussion on expanding bilateral cooperation in all areas, specially capacity building, human resource development and people-to-people contacts," Kumar tweeted.

President Faure arrived in India Friday on a six-day visit. His first stop was Modi's home state of Gujarat. The visit assumes significance given the Indian Ocean nation recently refused its nod to a joint project with New Delhi to develop a naval base there.
