KABUL, July 11 (Xinhua) -- Up to 11 people were confirmed dead and 10 others injured in militants' attack on education department in Afghanistan's eastern Nangarhar provincial capital Jalalabad on Wednesday, local media reported.

A group of armed insurgents stormed the education department in Jalalabad city at 9:30 a.m. local time, triggering a gun battle that lasted for four hours, according to local media reports.

Provincial officials are yet to give more information on the subject.

"Attack on education department claimed 11 lives and 10 others injured," Tolo television channel reported quoting unnamed officials.

This is the second deadly terrorist attack in Jalalabad city over the past two days.

In the previous attack which happened in the shape of suicide bombing on Tuesday, 10 people were killed and four others injured.
