HARBIN, July 27 (Xinhua) -- China's top anti-graft official has called for solid efforts to rectify problems exposed by disciplinary inspections.

Zhao Leji, secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, said that fixing the problems will demonstrate the seriousness and credibility of disciplinary inspection and supervision.

Zhao, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the comments during an inspection in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province from Tuesday to Friday.

Visiting disciplinary and supervisory authorities of the province and cities of Daqing and Fuyuan, Zhao urged officials to focus their work on addressing corruption and misconduct that occur on the people's doorsteps, especially corruption in poverty alleviation, education, medical care, food and drug safety, as well as corruption behind gang crime.

Those who were found to be corrupt and involved in misconduct would be severely punished, Zhao said.

Full and strict governance over the Party should reach grassroots Party organizations to maximize the people's sense of fulfillment, Zhao said.

Zhao emphasized the importance of the inspection work in safeguarding the core status of Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, and the authority of the CPC Central Committee and its centralized, unified leadership.

Zhao also called for more efforts to formulate rectification plans and requirements, and to raise the quality of rectification.
