LIVERPOOL, England, July 28 (Xinhua) -- Clippers sponsored by two Chinese cities, Sanya and Qingdao, won the first and third places of the 64,400 kilometer round the world Clipper 2017-2018 Race which ended Saturday in Liverpool.
Sanya Serenity Coast arrived to a hero's welcome on the River Mersey, with second place going to Visit Seattle.
Another Chinese Clipper Race competitor, Qingdao, was in third place overall, and also won Race 13, the final stage of the Clipper Race from Northern Ireland to Liverpool, crossing the Irish Sea to finish 28 minutes ahead of the second placed Liverpool 2018 clipper.
Sanya Serenity Coast team finished 13th but had enough points to be atop of the overall standings.
In total, 712 people representing 41 countries and regions and from all walks of life have taken part in the Clipper 2017-18 Race, the event's 11th edition.
