TOKYO, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened lower Friday following Wall Street's overnight retreat, with Japan's positive gross domestic product data for the April-June quarter released before the opening bell having little bearing on the market mood.

As of 9:15 a.m. local time, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 90.54 points, or 0.40 percent, from Thursday to 22,507.85.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 8.21 points, or 0.47 percent, at 1,731.95.

Mining, insurance and metal product-linked issues comprised those that declined the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
