COPENHAGEN, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- The level of people in employment in Denmark saw a rise of 1.9 percent in June, compared to the same month last year, official data showed Tuesday.

The total number of employed people hit 2,747,700 in June, rose by 3,700 people from the previous month, said Danmarks Statistik, the national statistical agency, in a statement.

The calculation is made on the basis of reports to Danish tax authority and counted all employees aged 16 to 64 years in both public and private sectors.

In the period from May to June, there was a further 4,500 people employed in companies and organizations, while the number of employees in public sector decreased by 800.

As employment keeps increasing, employers here are becoming increasingly worried about the lack of labour.

"Unemployment is falling steadily, while companies' labor shortage rises month by month," Jens Troldborg from the Danish employers association was quoted as saying by Danish news agency Ritzau.

"Increasing employment is in isolation a good news. But when coupled with the other trends we see in the labour market, it is clear that we face an imminent treat of overheating," Jens added.
