BEIJING, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Sun Chunlan called on the sports sector on Wednesday to work hard in their preparations for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Sun, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks when greeting the country's sports delegation for the 2018 Asian Games.

China topped the medal table at the Asian Games for the 10th consecutive time in Jakarta, with 132 gold, 92 silver and 65 bronze medals, despite the fact that China sent a relatively young delegation.

Sun extended her congratulations to the athletes and backroom staff, saying they "have brought new glory to the country".

With the Tokyo 2020 Olympics less than two years away, Sun urged the sports sector to keep calm ahead of their buildup to the Games and improve their training efficiency.
