Tokyo stocks edge lower in morning as investors secure profits

TOKYO, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks edged lower Thursday morning as investors secured profits after the benchmark Nikkei stock index's eight-day winning streak.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 32.07 points, or 0.13 percent, from Wednesday to 24,001.72.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, dropped 6.08 points, or 0.33 percent, at 1,815.59.

Oil and coal product, nonferrous metal and construction-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break.
