BUENOS AIRES, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- Several world champions and stars in BMX freestyle and skateboarding Sunday will show off their skills in Buenos Aires' Urban Park, one of the four competition clusters for the Youth Olympic Games(YOG).

Big names will include skateboarding legend Tony Hawk, an American professional skateboarder and actor; Logan Martin of Australia, a BMX freestyler and 2018 X-Games winner; and Brazilian Leticia Bufoni, a professional street skateboarder and reigning world champion.

They will be riding along with 15 Argentinian skateboarders and BMX freestylers in front of a crowd of local fans.

"The thing I'm looking forward to most at the YOG is to see the athletes from all over the world, because skateboarding is obviously new to the Olympics coming into 2020; and so there is going to be a whole influx of skaters from countries that we've never realized have skate talent," said Hawk.

"So I'm looking forward to seeing all the athletes from all over the world. I mean, that it what the Olympics are all about, bringing the world together through sport," he continued.

Skateboarding and BMX freestyle are newly added to the Tokyo Games 2020 programs.

The innovative Urban Park, located to the east of the city, represents youth and street culture in the youngest neighbourhood of Buenos Aires.

The Buenos Aires Youth Games officially start on Saturday.
