KAMPALA, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- Two leading table tennis players in Uganda have traveled to Zhejiang, China for a three-month training program.

Robert Jjagwe, Chairman Uganda Table Tennis Association (UTTA) told Xinhua that that team traveled early on Saturday.

"We are very happy that two players and the General Secretary have made the trip with sponsorship from the Chinese embassy in Uganda," said Jjagwe.

The team led by UTTA Secretary General Ronald Andira and the players Jonathan Ssenyonga and Ludia Natunga will undergo a three months training in physical education.

Jjagwe said working with China, which is the leading table tennis playing nation in the world, is a good chance for Uganda to also learn several things about the sport.

"The partnership between UTTA and the Chinese embassy is something we have always been very passionate about. We are extremely delighted to be working in great partnership with the Chinese embassy to develop the table tennis sport in Uganda," he said.

Uganda has continued to send players to participate in top championships like the Olympics, Commonwealth Games, All Africa Games, among others.
