BUENOS AIRES, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- Argentina and France shared the honors in the basketball individual medal events at the Youth Olympics here on Monday.

France's Mathilde Peyregne claimed gold in the girls' shootout contest before local favorite Fausto Ruesga triumphed in the boys' dunk contest.

Peyregne finished with nine points, just one point ahead of second-placed Katerina Galickova of the Czech Republic. Argentina's Sofia Acevedo was level on points with Galickova but took bronze by virtue of taking more time than her rival.

Paige Bueckers of the United States was fourth with four points.

In the boys' dunking contest, Argentine Ruesga clinched victory in a tie-break after both he and Nikita Remizov finished on 81 points. Italy's Niccolo Filoni pocketed he bronze medal with 51 points.
