LUSAKA, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- Zambia's year-on-year inflation as measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI) has gone up in the month of October compare to the previous month, the country's statistics agency said on Thursday.

The inflation increased to 8.3 percent in October compared to 7.9 percent recorded in September, according to the Central Statistical Office (CSO).

Goodson Sinyenga, the statistics agency's acting director, attributed the increase to a rise in fuel prices which triggered price hikes of various commodities.

He told reporters during a monthly briefing that the month-on-month inflation also increased to 0.3 percent in October from 0.1 percent in September.
