People mourn victims of the Indian Ocean Tsunami in 2004 at Ban Nam Khem Tsunami Memorial Park in Ban Nam Khem Community, Phangnga province, Thailand, on Dec. 26, 2018. Thailand marked the 14th anniversary of the Indian Ocean tsunami which caused heavy casualties. An earthquake of 9.0 magnitude on Dec. 26, 2004 triggered a wave as high as 17.4 meters which swept ashore in more than a dozen countries around the Indian Ocean rim, leaving more than 230,000 people dead. More than 5,000 people were killed in Thailand, about half of whom were foreigners. (Xinhua)
