TUNIS, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- Canada has become the largest importer of packaged olive oil made in Tunisia, Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP) reported Sunday.

Tunisian packaged olive oil conquered the Canadian market with 766 tons of exports in November and December, surpassing Spain and Italy, TAP quoted Chokri Bayoudh, CEO of the Tunisian Olive Oil Office (ONH), as saying.

"Canada becomes the largest import market of packaged Tunisian olive oil followed by the United States and France," Bayoudh added.

Over the current season 2018-2019, Tunisia aims to export more than 22,000 tons of packaged olive oil, up from 18,700 tons during the last season 2017-2018, with a 17-percent increase.

Packaged olive oil represents 10 percent of all exports of Tunisian olive oil. According to Bayoudh, Tunisia so far exported 33,357 tons of olive oil, with the value of about 96.5 million U.S. dollars, to 55 countries.
