TOKYO, March 11 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Monday as investors snapped up issues deemed cheap following the Nikkei's four-day run of closing lows last week.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 62.91 points, or 0.30 percent, from Friday to 21,088.47.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 6.24 points, or 0.40 percent, to 1,578.68.

Pulp and paper, electric power and gas, and real estate-linked issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
