BRATISLAVA, April 14 (Xinhua) -- Slovakia had scheduled two friendly games against Germany's national ice hockey team to prepare for the upcoming 2019 World Championship, and lost both of them.

After a 2-1 loss in the first clash, coach Craig Ramsay's squad was defeated by the home team 3-1 in the second one.

The Germans decided the outcome of the match early, scoring two goals in the first period. Lean Bergmann put one past Slovakia's goalkeeper Andrej Kosaristan in the 15th and Parker Tuomie added the second in the 16th minute.

The visitors' hopes were kept up after scoring a shorthanded goal in the second period by Lukas Cingel, but Germany's Marcel Noebels sealed the 3-1 victory in the 33rd minute.

"It's a pity we didn't capitalize on our chances. It wasn't an easy match. We botched the beginning. It seemed like we had forgotten our feet in the bus", said Slovakia's captain Ladislav Nagy.

Next up for team Slovakia are two friendly matches against their neighbors Austria.
