TEHRAN, June 4 (Xinhua) -- Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Tuesday called for resistance against U.S. pressures on the Islamic republic.

With the continuation of resistance against the U.S. pressures, Iran will reach a point of deterrence in all fields, Khamenei said in a televised ceremony marking the 30th anniversary of the death of the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Khomeini.

"Whenever the Iranian nation resists, we make progress," he added.

Iran has now reached military deterrence power which enemies cannot take from the nation, the Iranian top leader noted.

The U.S. government under President Donald Trump withdrew from the Iranian 2015 nuclear deal last year and reimposed unprecedented sanctions against Iran, calling for re-negotiation of the nuclear deal, Tehran's missile program and its regional role.
