BEIJING, July 9 (Xinhua) -- A selection of 191 cultural relics unearthed in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region have been put on display at the National Museum of China (NMC) starting Tuesday.

Showcasing cultural heritage dating back to the pre-Qin period (pre-221 B.C.) to the Song Dynasty (960-1276) and Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368), the exhibition presents a panorama of ancient Xinjiang's history and culture and the coexistence and integration of people of various ethnic groups in the region, said an NMC statement posted on its official website.

The exhibition, cosponsored by the NMC and the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Regional Museum, is expected to help people better understand Xinjiang's historical and cultural features and the region's position and role within the diversified, integrated pattern of Chinese culture, the statement said.

The exhibition will last for two months with free admission.
