LISBON, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) -- The Portuguese GDP grew at 1.8 percent in the second quarter of 2019, according to official data published by the National Statistics Institute (INE) on Wednesday.

The INE said that the Portuguese economy kept at the same growth rate recorded in the first quarter of this year, slighter lower than the government projected 1.9 percent.

It should be noted that Portugal is succeeding in obtaining the growth in a climate of trade disputes, said the INE.

The INE explained that the government's target, which is 1.9 percent for the whole year of 2019, remains within reach.

According to the data, the Portuguese economy gained an increase of 2.1 percent of annual growth rate last year after registering 1.7 percent in the fourth quarter.
