China, Uzbekistan to deepen all-round cooperation

The fifth meeting of the China-Uzbekistan intergovernmental committee of cooperation is held in Beijing, capital of China, Aug. 27, 2019. BEIJING, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- Senior Chinese and Uzbek officials on Tuesday agreed to deepen all-round cooperation during the fifth meeting of the China-Uzbekistan intergovernmental committee of cooperation held in Beijing.

The meeting was co-chaired by Guo Shengkun, Chinese chairman of the committee, also member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and head of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the CPC Central Committee, and Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, who is Uzbek chairman of the committee.

With the joint efforts of the two countries, China-Uzbekistan relations are developing rapidly, political mutual trust has been continuously enhanced, interactions at various levels are getting closer, Guo said.

Under the close coordination of the committee, cooperation between China and Uzbekistan have achieved a series of new outcomes and breakthroughs in fields of economy, trade, energy, transportation, science and technology, people-to-people exchanges, security and agriculture, said Guo, adding that the two countries have achieved fruitful outcomes on jointly building the Belt and Road.

He said China is willing to work with Uzbekistan to take the joint construction of the Belt and Road as the main thrust and strengthen cooperation in various fields, in order to bring more tangible benefits to the two peoples.

Aripov said that developing relations with China is Uzbekistan's diplomatic priority, and the Uzbek side stands ready to strengthen all-round cooperation with China for more Belt and Road cooperation outcomes.

Guo and Aripov signed a memorandum after the meeting.
