SANAA, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- At least seven people of a family were killed when Saudi-led coalition air strike hit the family house and adjoining mosque in Yemen's northern province of Amran early on Monday, local medics said.

The victims included four children, one medic told Xinhua by phone on condition of anonymity.

The house and the mosque were reduced to the ground by three airstrikes, said the residents.

Late Sunday night, the Houthi al-Masirah TV reported 27 coalition airstrikes on three northern provinces including Amran.

Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sarea described the new wave of airstrikes as "dangerous escalation" just two days after the Houthi leader Mahdi al-Mashat proposed that both Houthi and Saudi sides should halt missile attacks and engage in peace process.

The Houthis last week claimed responsibility for drone attacks on two major plants of Saudi Aramco that temporarily halted half of Saudi oil output. The kingdom blamed Iran for standing behind the attacks, which Iran denied.

Saudi Arabia has been leading an Arab military coalition against Iran-allied Houthis in Yemen for more than four years in support of the exiled internationally-recognized government of Hadi.
