China avoid relegation in last round at IHHF ice hockey Worlds Division II

BELGRADE, April 15 (Xinhua) -- China avoided relegation by defeating Belgium 4-0 in the last round 2019 IHHF Ice Hockey Men's World Championships Division II Group A on Monday.

China, who were bottom of the six-team Group A, gained three points through this win and finished one point ahead of Belgium in the standings.

It was the perfect start for China as Zhang Zesen scored the opener in the 4th minute of the first period. Ying Rudi scored a goal in the 34th minute, followed by another shot by Zhang after less than three minutes later. After the final score from Zhang Chengqiang, China walked off as the winners, dooming two-point owners Belgium to relegation.

In two other matches, hosts Serbia edged Spain 3-2 to top the group and will be promoted to Division I, and in Group B, Croatia beat Australia 2-1.
